IMO, can see it. Cruz's campaign sent a letter out saying Carson taking a break from campaign trail and making a big announcement, followed by telling the recipients of the letter to tell Carson caucus voters and urge them to caucus for Cruz.

An announcement was never put out by Cruz campaign correcting the statement. By not saying anything else, (importantly on caucus night) it might have pushed Carson votes to Cruz pushing him to no.1 by taking votes that would have normally gone to Carson.
