PFE has dropped development of an ALZ drug that is very similar to AXON's drug. AXON down hugely on the news, finally.
WHY don't people realize that if all drugs trying to treat via one pathway are failing in clinical trials, it probably means that it's not the right pathway? And to try to tweak the drug by testing one that is slightly different is probably not going to lead to success?

If the devil came to me and said, "I'll make sure that AVXL's drug works but you will lose all the money you invested in it," I'd take the deal. Alzheimer's is such a horrible disease -- it makes me sick to see big pharma wasting their resources and research time on these failed pathways. Go AVXL, show big pharma that sometimes alternative approaches are needed when the conventional wisdom has no answers.
