A common practice, which has resulted in criminal charges for fraud, is where some brokers employ a basher group to drive a particular stock down whilst they naked short the stock.
In some cases their basher group will try to get the stock suspended. If the SEC suspends a stock pending investigation, usually a 10 day period, it will generally loose up to 90% of its value resulting in massive gains for those involved.
One also can't rule out the possibility that these bashers are just sad lonely people that crave attention from wherever possible. Lol
