I'm not going to bag on the guy too hard because he's not one of the usual suspects, but there is a post on the pony board about a great article talking about 4k set top hardware, and NTEK is one of the items listed. Now, is this good for NTEK and us? The pony board believes it is. I disagree. So if a consumer is looking into 4k devices, they will see that NTEK made a device and they are no longer making it. If anything, it's probably bad press if anyone does any research on NTEK.
The second thing about this post and the mentioned article; I am *thrilled* to see that the leaders of our company, those industry geniuses that they are, decided that a hardware device was not a plausible product. I can see why they would make that decision. A bunch of these tiny no-name companies decided to make a hardware device, and they obviously have no idea about what might sell on the market. You probably haven't heard of any of these companies: Samsung, "Pansonic" (sic), Philips, Roku, Amazon, NVidia, and Sony. These mom and pop firms decided that it was a viable option to make a set top hardware device that plays 4K. Thank goodness we had the foresight of our industry leaders to tell that it was a really bad idea to make hardware to sell. Those small businesses I just listed are absolutely going to tank since they have no idea what consumers will purchase!
