Orange to Buy Cellcom's Liberia Unit for Undisclosed Amount

PARIS--Orange (ORA.FR) said Tuesday it has entered into an agreement with U.S. headquartered Cellcom Telecommunications Limited to buy its Liberian subsidiary, as the French telecom operator seeks to widen its footprint in Africa.
"This acquisition is part of the international development strategy of Orange, which aims to accelerate its growth by entering new emerging markets with high potential," the company said.
The completion of the transaction remains subject to approval by authorities.
