I think Rosen was tactical in this maneuver. If they didn't get the short extension, it could be viewed as not being a reasonable decision by the judge. I see the silver lining as: The Judge did wait until the day before the deadline to let them know. Rosen probably wasted a lot of time rushing to get this in order, in case they didn't get the extension. Then, when they finally get notice, it also leaves them with the least amount of time to get their position together for Monday.
