I actually did read the text of the original letter from Stern to the judge. It is UTTERLY STUPID. If I were the judge I would not only deny it, but sanction him for wasting her time with blather.
HOWEVER:
judges really really hate being overturned on appeal. They often bend over backwards with this extending-deadlines stuff, so that the attorneys can't appeal on the grounds of prejudice by the judge, or inadequate time allowed for preparation. So you never know, it's not a slam-dunk for us here.
But even if she does grant it (and you never know, she may want a little time off herself, or something), it certainly makes them look like bozos.
