CEO's don't just leave, and they aren't forced out from below. All too often they are replaced after consultations with major shareholders/investors as a condition for further support or the beginning of such support. Pay attention to all of the stories about activist investors in the news today.

Deep pocketed investors have always exerted influence on management and have always demanded changes.

Time will tell.
