You may have seen that Solgenix just reported good results from their oral mucositis trial. The results were not as good as CTIX's results in ANIMALS but we know that humans often have somewhat different results so that isn't conclusive about our Bril-OM being better. HOWEVER: Solgenix's product is administered intravenously, which means hospital stay or outpatient clinic visits for infusions. Bril-OM is a mouthwash which people can use easily at home, thus saving very sick people the hassle of having to go in for treatments, or to be hospitalized for them.
My hope is that Solgenix's product DOES get approved -- it's possible that there are different mechanisms of action that produce oral mucositis, and it's possible that if someone doesn't respond to Brilacidin-OM, then they can go the more arduous route of the Solgenix drug infusions. That's just assuming that Bril-OM has great results and is approved, of course.
In any case, when you hear about the suffering of people with oral mucositis, only a monster would hope for anything but success for them. That doesn't mean it will take away CTIX's success in the long run -- if Brilacidin-OM works as we hope it will.
Here's the link to a short summary article. Be warned, it's Seeking Alpha so the [expletive deleted] get another little penny of ad revenue:
