This is just wrong. A lot of companies time announcements around the week of JPM. Adam Feuerstein writes about it every year. He even chastised a company this week via twitter for releasing news "too early" and said that everyone would have forgotten about it by JPM.

Conferences are not the time any companies announce deals, that is why it concerns me he even mentions it because it anything material occurs, they will release it in a pr before the next trading session. Any announcement at a conference would always be a non-event, like we are looking at a partnership, we are in talks with potential suitors etc., but nothing in writing or completed. Imagine a company does a deal and its great news, the stock is tanking, but they hold back because they want to wait until the conference lol. Not to mention that it would be illegal.
