S.A de C.V, Socieded Anonima de Capital Variable would be Anonymous Society with Variable Capital.
S. A. doesn't mean it has to be private (off-market), it would be that it has shares and owners can remain anonymous. It applies to most companies. Most, if not all, companies in the Mexican Stock Exchange (IPC) are S.A.
Another term, "public" in Mexico is not used for market-traded companies is used to reference state-owned companies (ex: PEMEX).
On the contrary "Private company" Compania Privada means that it is held by people (in the market or not). It does not belong to the state.
