NVS's cancer drug improved cognition in Parkinson's patients, may be useful in Alzheimers. It seems to clear garbage out of brain cells. When used once a day (rather than a constant dose throughout the day) it doesn't appear to kill brain cells, which it CAN do if the brain is constantly flooded with it. They say it might be useful in the sub-group of Alzheimers (at least, some people consider it to be a form of it) called Lewy Body Dementia. Probably worth trying for Alz too.
