Nice find there. Funny 35 years ago I was involved in a DARPA program for the Military to cross reference all "Germanium Semi-Conductors" to "Silicon Semi-Conductors" as Silicon was definitely more stable. The Germanium had faster switching and was .3vdc for Emitter Base break over versus .7vdc break over for Silicon.
So IBM has Hybridized the Germanium/Silicon wafer to 7 nanometers....wow
