They still have a capability to stream 4K, just not HDR. Maybe they either weren't anticipating it to be available so soon or their holding off until HDR becomes more main stream. HDR means everyone is going to have to upgrade their current HDMI cables to the 2.0 version to see it.

To be honest, I don't know about the availability of the new cables or the pricing. Gonna have to research it. I'm guessing the cables are pretty expensive right now.

Maybe amazon wants to sell you another box a year from now with the upgraded connections. Still sounds like an "oops" to me.....
