It depends. I know people who work at Amazon. Updating inventory works one of two ways.
If you sell a small number of items, you manually keep your stock in check. So if you sold one case, you manually have to mark that case as sold in the system. Otherwise your numbers will be off.
A few days ago the Amazon store showed Tbev had fulfillment by Amazon which means Amazon handles all orders.
Just because Amazon is filling TBEVs orders, doesn't mean Amazon is keeping track of TBEVs inventory.
If Tbev feels they have too much inventory to keep track of manually, they would use a programming interface through Seller Central.
Seller central let's you view your orders, edit your account, shows payments, things like that.
There's two versions of seller central. One is the actual account for selling, the other is called Sandbox. Sandbox let's you test your account to be sure it's working properly.
All of this is highly intricate, and the person setting it up needs to know XML or HTML code to set it up properly.
So, although a lot of the stuff is automated, the majority is done manually. My buddy just emailed me the pamphlet for setting up standard checkout and that alone is 84 pages.
Which leads to the ultimate question of, did Tbev set up a seller account to automate their orders and inventory to keep track of stock, or are they doing it manually. Time will tell.
