One fact they highlighted is that, of the 18,000 police departments in the USA, only 400 have aviation units currently due to the high cost of operating helicopters.
The DSUS BOD was astute enough to realize at the outset that there is a huge potential market for drone use with police and fire departments. That is why they decided to target becoming a market leader in the industrial / commercial sector of the drone market.
The DSUS ProCargo and ProSearch drones are of the requisite durability for public safety missions and can be configured for multiple missions in a single sortie - which most drones cannot. The DSUS drones can have dual operators - pilot and systems operator - and can be configured with multiple cameras and also drop a payload on the same mission.
These characteristics, using proprietary items such as the ProDropper payload carrying and in-flight release system, make them an obvious choice for public safety use. Now that 4 members of the DSUS BOD have their FAA 333 Exemptions, they are in a much better position to demonstrate the products, get immediate feedback from interested clients, and then optimize the solution.
DSUS also offers support to clients in terms of advice on obtaining FAA 333 Exemption, training, safety and repair. DSUS does not just sell drones and leave the client to their own devices, another important differentiator for public safety customers.
