So the copy/paste DOES work sometimes? that is weird to have an intermittent problem like that. Are you using Firefox or Safari? I've had things like that not work on one browser but they do work on another. If changing browsers doesn't do it, why don't you email the Hangout admins and see if they're aware of the problem.
