I see two obvious benefits:
1) They have to be licensed to demonstrate the hardware and to show their commitment to the market segment.
2) It shows their commitment to the market space further debunking the "scam" claims over yonder.
3) They are becoming more efficient at attaining this license which they can then assist clients in their efforts. This will be important as they establish a client base in the various market segments they will be going after.
I don't see any direct fiduciary benefits, though. This is strictly a "pay to play" advantage that enables them to have the discussions with the FAA in participation of shaping the industry.
