The goal of pursuing legal action against the bashing company isn't so much to gain financially but to stop the damage to the company. To stop the damage is far more productive than just trying to get money from these bashers.

Ideally they would achieve both. But pursuing the parent company is a great first step.

If a company from London were attacking Apple in such a way you can bet they would fire back with both barrels.
