It's not if this gets funded, it is by whom it will be funded. I see a company that is being very selective with their seed investors, foreign companies seem to be discouraged from participation (with good reason, the Chinese and the Russians have enough to hack without owning the golden goose) and the shark tank wanna-bees get discouraged pretty quickly.
When the right mix is found I am sure that events will follow quickly, organizing the code writers and I would hope a well established PR firm to handle the retail and commercial market. When that happens maybe I can fish for the illusive trout full time.
