DD - Military Use of Small Drones
It is not widely known, as evident by comments elsewhere, that some world class military forces already make use of small low-cost drones for surveillance purposes eg for checking behind the walls of compounds before making an assault.
Military forces do not just make use of multi-$M UAVs such as the MQ-9 Reaper, and the manufacturers of the sophisticated high-price items do not currently have much interest in producing the much smaller items.
For interest, see the video below which shows the Nano "Black Hornet" used in operational theaters by the armed forced of the UK and Denmark. They were bought off-the shelf from a Danish manufacturer (which incidentally does not reveal the location of its factory - an in-joke for those formerly at the other place) !

Clearly there is likely to be widespread interest from US federal, state and local law enforcement SWATs for larger drones that can carry thermal IR cameras such as the DSUS ProSearch and ProCargo.
I envisage that the carriage of Improvised Explosive Device disruption devices may also be an option on some small drones in the near future.
