From your description, he sounds like a very tough and wise Man.
My Mo-in-Law passed Dec 14, my birthday no less, at 101 and 6 weeks. Quite the lady, of which I knew her for 38 years.
Having good memories is comforting.
My Mom will be 92 in July....
