The point is, the new sony tvs are using the Android TV OS. Therefore when it is working and approved on the sony, it should be accessible to all Android TV devices as well. But yes, i am guessing you will have to get a google account when you use the Sony TV, is that not true?
It is beside the point, it makes sense that Google is holding the update if the app has not been approved yet...we saw the same thing with the UF app in google stores for kitkat, it took forever. Now we need it approved for GTV. But that opens other doors too so long as it is in the store as a GTV app.
