Online hospitality booking search engines like Trivago and Agoda, located in specific regions of the world, were snatched up by Expedia & Priceline for Hundreds of Millions and Billions of Dollars of because that is the way the Major OTA’s (Online Travel Agencies) grow. They expand through acquisition, not reinvention of the wheel. Now that Google, which is for the most part a technology systems company, has entered the travel space, all of the major OTA’s are scared to death! Expedia just purchased Orbitz for this very reason.
