US Protects FireEye Customers From Lawsuits -- Market Talk

14:43 EDT - If a FireEye (FEYE) customer -- like Target (TGT) or the Central Intelligence Agency -- gets hacked, they can't be sued for buying the wrong anti-hacking technology, according to a new ruling from the Department of Homeland Security. The exemption comes under the so-called Safety Act, which is meant to encourage companies to take steps to combat terrorism. In this case, if a company is using some of FireEye's (FEYE) products, it is protected from lawsuits alleging the product failed to stop "an act of cyber terrorism," the company said. It's another example of how FireEye ( FEYE), the security company that got its start through federal contracts, has a long relationship with D.C. types. (danny.yadron@ wsj.com)
