I did my own little test today on the interactivebroker site.
Earlier I checked and the site was showing 20,000 shares available and the date was current. I did not post that information.
When trades of 22,400 and 11,999 took place I checked again. The site was then displaying stale information.

I am not sure what it means, if anything. Just an observation. Be aware and draw your own conclusions.
