The only way I can envision shorting going on is if it's of the "Illegal Naked" kind.
If they (Illegal Naked Short Sellers) have committed to it to the tune suggested i.e. 100's of millions of shares...then there is really no incentive to stop and quite frankly there is a tremendous incentive to not stop. If they stop before NTEK goes out of business, then they either better have the money to cover or they risk prosecution assuming they aren't untouchables (i.e. outside federal jurisdiction). Brokers and MM's who may be complicit with offshore Illegal Naked Short Sellers would likely close up shop, accept their punishment or fines as the cost of doing business and do their time and come out of it with a boat load of money or file for bankruptcy on any fines they may receive, etc. imo
