If the price continues upward, the short sellers are going to get squeezed. (Maybe JD is one of them). That will force many of them to have to buy the stock in order to cut their losses. (The higher it goes, the more money they lose). So if JD is shorting this stock, then I can see how upward movement must make him nervous. And it also would mean that if the stock keeps going upward, then JD's losses become our gains. By buying more shares, we are bleeding the short sellers dry and squeezing them to hand over their booty.
