Xylitol is an all natural reduced-calorie sweetener or “sugar alcohol”. Even though it is called a sugar alcohol, it does not contain alcohol. Sugar alcohols also include hydrogenated starch hydrolysates, isomalt, lactitol, maltitol, mannitol, and sorbitol. Sugar alcohols contain fewer calories and fewer carbohydrates than other sweeteners.
