GDNF has sometimes been referred to as MANF2. It does not fall under Amarantus' patent protection for MANF.
Gerald stated in the past (and I'm trying to locate the exact source or audio clip) that anyone wanting to do research involving MANF is free to do so, but if anyone wants to bring anything related to MANF to the commercial market, they have to go through us. According to Gerald, we can OWN the entire revenue stream from the product if they choose not to license through Amarantus. The composition of matter patent is solid and has already withstood a legal challenge by Mart Saarma in the European Union.
