Rather your approach is "proactive or reactive". The important thing is to not loose your cool. That is their goal. Requesting that they be removed for lies, either via admins or publicly, is LESS than futile. Not only will it not work, it might even get YOU banned.

They are not new at this game; and as stupid as some of them sound, they are better at this than many realize. Their efforts can be effective.
