Today's post is much bigger than may be realized. This post is a little long, but well worth a read.

It is about the 30 million dollar TBI/CTE study. Back on 5-30-14 I posted this on the iPIT board.

It's all over the news in my hometown and the headlines of the local paper. "IU School of Medicine to Lead Study of Concussions."

This is a thirty million dollar three year collaboration between Indiana University, the University of Michigan, and Medical College of Wisconsin will be the most comprehensive study every conducted according to Timothy Mcallister who will lead this project.

"An Indiana University team will handle the administrative oversight-plus data management and analysis-bioinformatics, biospecimen storage and analysis, and clinical support-of a massive concussion study involving athletes from as many as 30 college and universities and military academies."

"The project will initially enroll 7,200 student athletes from twelve sites and grow to about 37,000 students at 30 sites."

Of particular interest:
"At the Medical College of Wisconsin, a team led by Mike McCrea, professor of neurosurgery and neurology, will conduct a variety of research projects, including work on advanced neuroimaging, biological markers and clinical studies, and the development of impact sensor technology."

the project will be equally funded by the NCAA and Department of Defense.

GC and Brewer Sports International should be all over this! The IU school of medicine is in Indianapolis, but IU is in Bloomington(my hometown) and has extensive research capabilities. I'd bet anything grad students would lurch at the opportunity to study MANF concerning TBI.
