The best response to the idiots is no response at all.
May I suggest putting the idiots on ignore:
To use the Ignore feature, go to the basher's profile and click on the link that says "Ignore This User". Then go to Settings/My Ignores and ensure it says "Enabled". PMs are always blocked from Ignored Users. Public posts are only hidden if Filters are Enabled.
It really is some much more pleasant. Try it!
