beta was ahead of its time. a superior format that is still used in film/satellite industry

with recording cap. and approx 50% longer recording time


pornography drove massive jvc sales. pornography paved the way for mass distribution. later used by video rental stores (betamax's quality is still evident. still in use today. but jvc gave the people more freedom. more value. apparently the people wanted porn. porn use led to innovations that would drive the home video business with jvc as the format. end of story)

had nothing to do with sony technology. betamax is superior in quality and pro's still use it. jvc gave the consumers what they wanted. simple
