It's also interesting to note that Gerald is a young CEO and is taking a novel approach to how this company is set up and the business model he's established. While I'm sure he's had plenty of excellent advice from his team along the way, it's also historically relevant that most new innovations in business are not created by the older, established crowd. They are done by the young hotshots who haven't become mired down in conventional thinking with years of business experience. The young CEOs are more inclined to try new things and take the risks to push the envelope of conventional business models.
While some have blasted Gerald for his inexperience and youth, this may prove to be one of his greatest assets as the validity of the Amarantus business model is proven. Would Cleary, the former CEO, or another older and more experienced biotech CEO have structured the company this way? Unlikely, in my opinion.
