Churbz's video was from 3 years ago. A lot has changed in the corporate strategy since then, and Gerald has given clear reasons for their decision NOT to partner, but instead to continue developing the assets in order to get a better deal down the road. The talk of the diagnostics division spin-off supports the strategy of delaying partnering and increasing the asset value.
Perhaps you should stop focusing on what Gerald stated 1-3 years ago and focus more on what's happening now. A diagnostics spin-off is being discussed a lot. Gerald hasn't mentioned a BP partnership in over a year, at least not in his Chairman's blog.
I'm assuming you read the Forbes article posted here a few months ago about the significant advantages of a spin-off over a partnership, where much greater value would be obtained for shareholders with this strategy. Perhaps you should go back and read that article again. It was very enlightening and it speaks highly of Gerald's and his advisors decision to go the spin-off route vs. the partnership route.
