The town cannot produce a tax on a finished product in the manner that might be suggested. Mr. Foran stated the tax rate on agricultural land is a fraction of the residential rate so it is not a direct tax benefit to the town but in the long run, the town benefits by being able to collect taxes on spin offs such as building permits, renovation permits - what you see when there is a boom in the local economy and the spin offs create economic benefits for local and provincial and federal treasuries.
