any1butyou - good thread you started here...you are correct about the assumptions people are making. It is nice to clear this up.
The 30 day grow cycle is just for vegetative growth as stated. Growing from seeds does take weeks to get to a flowering stage. However, where time can be really shortened, if after the initial grow, and the roll out of clones. I look at these grow boxes/patented grow cycle as a 'turbocharger'. It will still take a bit to get going, but when they do start to rev up, they may be able to quickly offer many varieties and have more of a constant supply.
A lot of people are thinking that growing is happening now, and FITX will announce the license and successful passing of testing on their first grow at the same time. I explained why I feel that is not the case...I really expect them to announce a ready to grow letter as soon as received. That means the cat is in the bag essentially - since you have to f up pretty bad (in the context of how FITX is running things) to fail the product testing.
