U.S. stock indexes stable on fiscal-cliff view
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock indexes were little changed Tuesday as U.S. political leaders readied for more budgets talks to avert steep tax hikes and spending cuts that could push the economy into recession.
With four weeks to go before steep tax hikes and spending reductions automatically begin, just how the fiscal-cliff issue is resolved is of less importance than getting it done, said one market participant.
