Except that we were told that the process was 87% efficient before. That article implies PTOI's process is only 67% efficient at converting plastic to oil.
So even if PTOI's output happened to be pure crude oil which could be immediately sold as a commodity, it wouldn't be economically viable. The plastic needed costs about $800/ton which is hypothetically converted to 4.4 barrels of pure crude oil worth only about $440. Under the best hypothetical situation PTOI destroys half of the feedstock's value by pyrolyzing it.
