Regarding Chuck Barris of the Gong Show, here is a factoid!  His autobiography "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" was about his life as a CIA assassin, and it was made into a movie about his 33 hit career before showbiz!  He also wrote a sequel book "Bad Grass Never Dies".
