Last Saturday, my wife said she was going to bake cookies. I love cookies, so I was excited about it. Things kept coming up throughout the day and I kept bugging her about when she was going to bake those cookies. Finally, I annoyed her enough and she started getting the ingredients out. It turned out that we didn't have enough butter to make the cookies. I was very disappointed since I was really, really looking forward to having some fresh-baked cookies that day.
On Sunday, we went to the grocery store and I reminded her that we needed to buy butter so she could bake those cookies. Later in the day, she finally found some time to bake the cookies. Our three young daughters helped out and it really seemed like they enjoyed it. What I enjoyed was eating those cookies...a lot of them. By the time those cookies came out of the oven, I had forgotten all about how disappointed I was on Saturday when I found out we were all out of butter. Those were some darn good cookies.
(Please don't delete as off-topic. I'm attempting to be metaphorical, but it is a true story. Homemade chocolate chip cookies...yum).
