Being in government allows you to shoot yourself in the foot. Governments don't generate profits, they tax and spend. The current federal government is doing everything they can to drag their feet on this issue. If the government were truly behind this movement to allow for medical mj, they would not be insisting a six year old boy only be allowed to smoke it to relieve his epilepsy. Keeping it to smoking allows for them to continue to promote the stereotype of the pot smoking hippie even in the face of a court challenge from British Columbia. I would speculate the heads of HC are under intense pressure from the health minister at this time. Heads should roll it it is found any slowdown of granting new licenses was intentional.
