If somebody sells air shares to an unsuspecting long there will just be more shares in the float than authorized and or outstanding. If a dividend is declared there will be too many shares out and I suppose there will be a forced buy in. Of course as soon as dividend sent out shorting will resume, the next 30 days may be wilder than 2011.
