The SEC suspension is meant to protect potential investors . Current shareholders have already made their bet. The SEC does not make a suspension decision lightly because they know the impact it has to current shareholders . But when they have enough information suggesting that information put out by the company is inadequate or misleading they will suspend in the public interest (and that means any potential investor).
