I'm sorry Meg, but I have to disagree. If whatever PR company was worth their salt, they should've know that sending out news letters without any sterling news to go with it would only appear as a desperate pump, imo.
Buy the rumor, sell the news. However, in this case there wasn't even any news to go with it. Unless one counts a rehash of past, non-revenue generating, accomplishments as news.
I'm not so much down on what the company has accomplished, to date, or their prospects, but doing this before laying a better groundwork was an obvious mistake. One which I've seen get the same results dozens of times, and I'm no professional PR guy.
