You can go the easy route and invest in VTI or SDY which spreads out risk and still pays a good dividend. The IBB is a biotech fund that is more volatile. Some staple dividend plays PG, SO, GE, JNJ, etc. More risky, PFF, NLY pay much higher dividends.
