Hey guys, just checking in on the board today to see what is going on. The question of what they will do with the wood already cut and waiting to be pulled from the lake? Hollund does not need to dry this wood before rough cutting. In fact, drying the wood causes additional dimensional problems.

Instead, they cut the wood wet and then tightly bind the wood on pallets with spacers every few inches and heavy weight on top of each pallet. This allows air to evenly flow through and slowly air dry the cut lumber. The tight binding and heavy weight keeps the wood from warping and cracking before final sizing.

It should be noted that there is a lot of waste material using this method, because around an inch to an inch and a half of trim is required to ensure the required size is met. But the sawdust and scrap is saved and used for fuel for those woods requiring kiln drying. The advantage is that high priced woods can be cut and shipped much faster, and revenue is generated much quicker.
