Were they trying to figure out why the processor isn't able to make any money??
Since Golfgod is in constant contact with the company and the company managed to avoid telling him for six months that the plant was out of commission, my guess is that PTOI managed to hoodwink Golfgod by convincing him that people are after the magic catalyst/super-enhanced system in order to give the impression of value. The "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids" strategy of value perception enhancement.
