You know more than you give yourself credit for.
That is why I do not day trade, but my wife does.
All of my shares are over a year, but my wife picked up her shares in February of this year. I do not want to risk losing my 20% tax bracket on the sale of my shares, but her shares will be taxed at 40% anyway, so she might as well play.
As for not day trading because the tax consequence is too great...lol...the tax consequences are the same as ordinary income, so the logic of not day trading would be the same logic of not going to work everyday.................
